The Challenge: DAY 1 - Get the Vision! #1

GOD’S VISION!

Welcome to DAY 1 of the 40-Day Mission-Minded FAMILY CHALLENGE!

Through these daily 5-minute videos and online discussions, we are going to focus our families toward God’s Great Commission and getting more of His passion for the lost. Feel free to leave comments and feedback. Let’s encourage one another to become more mission-minded!

C’mon . . . Take the Challenge!

A few questions for feedback: Do you desire God’s vision for your life? Did you check the online geography quiz at lizardpoint.com? Did you show it to your kids? Do you know the Bible references for God’s Great Commission in Mark and Matthew? Can you (and your kids) say these verses from memory? Did you put up a map or a globe in your house? Where? Do your kids have a map or a globe in their bedrooms?

  1. We just heard from a missionary family, living in MEXICO who plan to follow this 40-Day Challenge and are inviting others to join in the fun! (Welcome Gail, and thank YOU for your life and commitment to the Lord and God’s Great Commission. Throughout these eight weeks, it would be wonderful if you could share your family’s feedback and ideas here-and-there, from your perspective).

  2. Tara Martin says:

I didn’t post a comment last night. sorry! My children and I are very excited about this project. They did pretty good on the geography quiz….but they want to work more on areas they don’t know. What a cool site! Thanks!

We do desire God’s vision for our life. He’s been changing and molding that vision in ways we never thought possible. I’ll write more about that on challenge 2 (since it’s Tuesday and I’ve already read the challenge Ü)

We are writing down all the verses from the challenge and will be choosing from them in our memory verse time.

We heard a guy…Raul Gomez….speak on the verses of the Great Commission. He said, “I’m gonna give you a “heads up” for when you get to heaven. God’s gonna ask you a question and you might want time to prepare your “excuse.” He’s gonna ask, ‘What part of GO did you not understand?’” WOW!! Then John Zumwult spoke and said, “Every one is called to GO…either physically or with their wallet.” Very challenging!

We have a map already up…but when it’s up it’s easy to get used to seeing it there and just ignore it. So today we’re gonna go to it and look and talk about it. Find some different countries. My daughter is going to Uganda on Thursday for a 19 day missions trip to work with orphans in the slums of Kampala and in Gulu. So we’ve been talking a lot about that!

    Thanks for doing this challenge!!

  5. Kelly, thanks SO much for your comment, and may the Lord bless your daughter as she goes to Uganda . . . and let us know how she’s doing.

  6. We are so excited to start this 40 day journey. We really enjoyed our God ordained meeting during our brief visit to family camp at the Christian Renewal Center. God does big things there! I’ll try to pop back in and comment throughout our journey. Praise the Lord, we love what he’s doing!!

  7. Christy & Family,

we’re so excited to have you joining us here on our Harvest Ministry website for this 40-Day Mission-Minded FAMILY CHALLENGE, and what a blessing to meet you at CRC. Thanks for your comment, and your friendship! We’ll be looking forward to keeping in touch! Blessings to you all!

    In His Love & Harvest,

  8. Shauna Carmack says:

Thank you! My girls and I are starting late and catching up now! I tear up as I listen to the stats…

  9. Shauna, we welcome you and your girls and are so delighted to have you join us in the challenge. Don’t ever feel that you’re “late” and needing to “catch up”; instead, simply go at your own pace and let the Lord speak to your heart. God bless you as you invest your time to focus on God’s Great Commission - and as you seek the Lord to know how HIS heart for missions and the lost should make a difference in the day-to-day life of your family.

We welcome your comments as you’re going through the challenge. They’re encouraging to us, and to other families.

    In His Love & Service,
    Jon & Ann

  10. Janis Richie says:

My husband and I talked this morning about how we needed to be more ‘intentional’ while going about our daily lives, especially with our children. I looked up ‘families seeking God’s will’ and your site came up! Now my family is taking the 40 day challenge! Thank you for making it available to us and others.

  11. Dear Janis - We are delighted about this new decision that you and your husband have made to be more “intentional” about seeking God’s will and imparting this to your children. Feel free to go through these daily challenges at whatever pace is best for your family; and if you add comments or questions or feedback here-and-there as you’re progressing through the 40-Days, we’ll comment back. We’re here to encourage your family to GO forward in your walk and commitment to God’s purposes.

    In His Service,
    Jon & Ann Dunagan
