Winning Souls – By Drake Kanaabo

God’s vision and plan is that every generation should influence its own people with the gospel. We are responsible for winning our own generation to Christ. We cannot run away from this responsibility. No one else is going to come from another generation to convert this generation…
Mission Challenge: “Winning SOULS”
By N.E.T.S. Minister, Drake Kanaabo
(Note: Drake Kanaabo and his wife, Josephine, live in Kampala, Uganda, and have evangelized in remote areas with Harvest Ministry’s NETS Outreach since 1991.)
What have we done to win our generation?
Over the last few years, I’ve taken particular interest in the annual plans of churches and I’ve noticed that many churches do not include evangelism in their plans. Most annual plans feature seminars, conferences, concerts, fundraising drives, etc. but not soul winning as a priority.
A great deal of the activites going on in our churches are designed for the benefit of people who are already saved. Church leaders in general no longer seem to possess any passion for lost souls. This is the reason why in many churches, evangelism has been relegated to an insignificant department often manned by newly saved, inexperienced Christians.
Friends, something has gone wrong.
Get Back to Soul Winning!
While there is absolute sense and legitimacy in us planning for the welfare of those who are already saved, it is unacceptable for us not to care any more about the eternal destiny of the unsaved. It is time we got back to the primary mission of the Church: witnessing for our Lord Jesus.
It is time we put back evangelism where it rightfully belongs: as a priority in our plans and programs…
Those early church folks understood their high calling to witness for Jesus. If it weren’t for the obedience and determination of people like apostle Paul, we Gentiles might never have received the gospel. Maybe today we would be Muslims or Animists! But thank God for those first believers. They completely focussed on winning their generation. They refused to trade that mission for anything in the world. We must follow their example!
Winning Our Generation
God’s vision and plan is that every generation should influence its own people with the gospel. We are responsible for winning our own generation to Christ. We cannot run away from this responsibility. No one else is going to come from another generation to convert this generation…We can never escape from this question: What have we done to win our generation? What impact have we made on our villages, cities and nations?
Some two billion people living right now on planet earth are yet to hear the gospel for the first time. These people live in Asia, in the Middle East, in North Africa. They are a part of our generation but they don’t have preachers to proclaim the gospel to them. What are we going to do about these billions? It is our responsibility to reach them…

MISSION to LWAKHAKHA!
July 12, 2009 by Harvest Ministry

August 2009 – Harvest Ministry conducted a city-wide missions outreach in LWAKHAHA, Uganda. This Uganda/Kenya border town has been rampant with prostitution and AIDS. People there have been desperately in need of Jesus. Jon Dunagan preached together with N.E.T.S. minister, Drake Kanaabo, and also met together with all of the African N.E.T.S. ministers.
PLEASE PRAY!
Please be interceding with us for God’s Holy Spirit to be moving and stirring in the hearts of the people in Lwakhakha. We’re believing for many people to come face-to-face with the reality of God, and to be moved to repentance from their sin. May God be glorified in
Specific prayer needs:
- Pray for the local pastors and Christian leaders as they are preparing for the outreach
- Pray for God’s provision for Jon’s airfare & traveling expenses to Uganda
- Pray for effective outreach advertising (flyers, word of mouth, and promotion)
- Pray for effective advance work (led by N.E.T.S. minister, Paul Kintu – coordinating prayer, ushers, follow-up – and Geoffry – coordinating local music and worship)
- Pray for safe transportation of the ministry equipment and team to Lwakhakha
- Pray for provision for food and lodging for the whole team throughout the outreach
- Pray for support and wisdom for the technician team, as they take care of details
Jon Dunagan and Drake Kanaabo will also be ministering at Harvest Ministry’s Osanidde Village orphanage, and they look forward to the time together with our wonderful extended “family” on Bussi Island. Please be praying with us for this entire mission outreach, for all of these people, and for these needs!
Mozambique & Swaziland, SE Africa

It was a thrilling opportunity to preach the Gospel over the course of the recent SE African mission outreach to a total combined attendance of over 21,000 people, in Swaziland and Mozambique.
Raiders of the Lost
January, 2009
Jon Dunagan and our 20-year-old son Josh, just returned home from exciting mission outreach to Mozambique and Swaziland, in SE Africa.
Together with NETS ministers Drake Kanaabo and Paul Kintu, and our Harvest Ministry team, Jon and Josh had the thrilling adventure of proclaiming the awesome news of Jesus Christ to a combined total attendance of over 21,000 people. Over the course of the mission outreach (with two city-wide evangelistic events in Mozambique and Swaziland, and five church services, plus one-on-one witnessing opportunities during a brief layovers in South Africa and Senegal), approximately 1,100 individuals prayed to surrender their lives to the Lord . . . with deep repentance.
Currently, local churches are working on follow-up, and getting these new believers established into local churches. Please keep these countries, and these new Christians in your prayers.
P.S. For fun, we threw in a few “Indiana Jones” photos. In South Africa, Jon got a new explorer hat . . . and combined with his trusty leather jacket (which he’s worn ALL over the world) he looked like quite a character.
We praise God for the opportunity to share His Good News and to be “raiders of the lost” for the kingdom of heaven. Thanks for praying for us!

January – February – March, 2009
During the first quarter of 2009, N.E.T.S. Minister Drake Kanaabo, and his wife Josephine (from Kampala, Uganda – in East Africa), have been very fruitful in ministry. Their ministry has included preaching in numerous evangelistic outreaches, providing leadership for Osanidde Village, and ministering in many church services throughout Uganda.
In January, Drake preached alongside Jon and Josh Dunagan in Mozambique and Swaziland (in SE Africa), and in February and March (in church services and a conference), we rejoiced as about 500 people received salvation. In early April, Drake will be traveling with a team to the nation of Israel, and in mid-April, he will be preaching with Jon in Northern Uganda.
Prayer Request: Please pray for Drake, as he is preparing for his upcoming mission trip to Israel, and for all of the plans and preparations now underway for Harvest Ministry’s upcoming evangelistic outreach to northern Uganda (in mid-April).
