Pray for Ireland

Harvest Ministry’s Mission to Ireland . . .

Jon & Ann Dunagan will be GOING on a mission outreach to Ireland, ministering to families and churches throughout the country, together with Josh & Anna Dunagan,
in late April and May, 2012.

Prayer Focus for Ireland:

In previous generations, Ireland was a predominantly Christian nation, even “sending” missionaries to other countries and helping to spread the Gospel throughout Europe.

Today, according to a recent European Believers report, less than 1% of the people of Ireland are born-again believers (only 0.62%). That percentage is so low.

As mission-minded families, we need to PRAY for Ireland

  1. Dear Joseph,

Thank you for your note . . . and your desire for unity. For many years, I (Ann) and my family were also Roman Catholics and (simultaneously) “born-again” Christians. Growing up, my parents and nearly all of our family’s dearest friends were Catholic and definitely also saved and born-again. In this article, we did not mean to imply that those who go to the Catholic church can not saved; we were simply quoting from a reliable ministry that records statistics . . . and usually Evangelical (Bible-believing) Christian believers are included in a different category than the general Catholic believers. Some of the pastors we met in Ireland referred to a remnant of precious Catholic believers who were also born-again, Bible-believing, or some even Charismatic. I know for a fact that my family and I were saved and forgiven of our sins during that time of our lives — by God’s grace and through faith and salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Even during our recent ministry time in Ireland, my husband and I ministered in several house churches with many believers who were both Roman Catholic and born again. Sadly, however many Catholics (and Protestants!) think that just having a “church-member-label” or merely attending church or doing good things will save them. Good works can’t save us and a particular church does not save us; Jesus Christ is the way the truth and the life and no man can come to our Father in heaven, except through Him.

May God give you favor to be a light for Jesus Christ among the people He has called you to help.
Thanks for your words of blessing.
    Ann Dunagan

Thank you for wanting to spread the love of Christ. I join in your prayers for Ireland. As a born and raised Evangelical, and now Roman Catholic, I also pray for understanding and eventual unity among Christians. Thus, I am saddened by your implication that among the 99.38% of Irish people who do not use the “born-again” label, many of whom are devout Catholics, are not your brothers and sisters in Christ. I pray that as those you encounter may open their hearts and minds to seeing Christ at work through you, you might also open yourselves to see our Lord at work in the faithful Catholics you meet. God bless you.

Thank you so much for having this wonderful site. I have never been to Irlend but would love to visit. Prayer is essential to healthy living.
