Teaching Families at Teach Them Diligently
There are many unique aspects of this convention, including an emphasis on teaching creation from a literal, biblical perspective and dedicating the proceeds to world missions. What a blessing to be a part!
Jon and Ann Dunagan will be speaking together about World Missions and Effective Family Life at the Teach Them Diligently convention in Omaha, Nebraska (May 16-18, 2013).
Their sessions will include:
Daring Daughters: Local and Global Missions for Teenage Girls
(Ann Dunagan) – Thursday, 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Orphans. Abortion. Poverty. There are so many needs in our world and so many people who need Jesus. Becoming a beautiful, godly woman is more than being a pure, pampered princess. Romans 10:15 says, “How beautiful are the feet of them who bring the gospel of peace…” NO matter where you live, or where you’re called to go, you can DARE to care, DARE to cry, and DARE to make a difference for God. As Amy Carmichael prayed, “Give me the love that leads the way, the passion that burns like fire.”
Mission-Minded Families: Releasing Your Family to God’s Destiny
(Jon and Ann Dunagan)
Hudson Taylor said, “The Great Commission is not an option to consider, it is a command to obey. For Christian homeschooling families, “World Missions” is more than an optional elective; instead, it’s a foundational worldview for training our children for God. In this session, you’ll glean from Jon and Ann’s global perspective, based on their three Mission-Minded books, many exciting homeschooling adventures, and over 25 years of remote mission evangelism to every continent on earth. Yet as Jon and Ann emphasize, “Missions is not just for missionaries; God’s call is for all.”
Family Leadership for the Next Generation:
(Jon and Ann Dunagan) — Friday, 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
You will be inspired for next-generation leadership as Jon and Ann share from their family’s global adventures to over 70 nations, while homeschooling their 7 children. Learn to “raise the bar” in leadership and service to others, to “guard the gates” of your home, and to “prepare for pressure” in a dark world that desperately needs the light of Jesus. Get a vision for family discipleship and expanding God’s kingdom in every sphere of society. There’s life after graduation – with college, careers, romance, weddings, and next-generation purpose. By God’s grace, let’s aim and launch our arrows, to hit God’s mark!
Parenting by Faith, not Fear:
(Jon and Ann Dunagan) — Friday, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Fear can paralyze; it can grip your heart, torment your mind, and hinder you from parenting in God’s joy and purpose. Philippians 4:6 says, “Be anxious for nothing.” Nothing means NO-thing. Not even ONE-thing. Do you fear your own inadequacies (or wonder if homeschooling is going to mess up your kids for life)? Do you fear teenage rebellion, hormones, high school, or the future? Are you afraid of failure, financial pressure, or not fulfilling God’s purpose? By God’s grace, the Dunagan’s have faced their fears head on – preaching in dangerous war-torn areas, releasing a son into military service, and homeschooling through high school. In this session, you’ll be encouraged by God’s faithfulness, concluding with a time of prayer.
Ann Dunagan spoke about Mission-Minded Families and Daring Daughters at Teach Them Diligently in Nashville, Tennessee (May 30-June 1, 2013).
Ann’s four workshop sessions included:
10 Practical Ideas for Teaching With God’s Heart for the World,
Aiming Arrows into Adulthood, and
You can see the Teach Them Diligently website for mp3s and CDs of these sessions.
Ann spoke at last year’s (very first) Teach Them Diligently convention in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and just returned from a wonderful time at the convention in Nashville. We are are thrilled to be invited back and to join with an outstanding team of speakers and leaders to impact families for God’s kingdom.
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children,
and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house,
and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down,
and when thou risest up (Deut. 6:6-7).
