Thank you so much for this article. It stirred my heart and emotions from complancency. I nearly wept as I saw how my own neglect and complacency has created one of those “gaps” and I truly cried “God, forgive me!…Arouse me!” When God places a calling on your life, you can not escape. As my husband and I, and our 3 children make preparations to be in a position to be sent into vocational ministry, he continues to fan the flame. We do not know where He will send us or how it will take place, but He continues to ignite in our hearts a passion for Him, His Word and His people, those of the faith and those who are lost.

Christy, Thank you SO much for sharing how God is stirring in your heart. May the Lord bless you and your husband and your four kids (and by the way, when we had 4 little ones, about the same age as yours, it was MUCH more demanding work than having our 7 today). God helps us in every season, and He molds us for all that He wants to do, not only through us, but IN us.

Phew. Powerful. Great and appropriate perspective. The Holy Spirit can really paint vivid pictures for us. I once had a vision at a high school retreat when I signed up to go evangelize at the surrounding mall. I saw a great hole open up in the floor and could hear Satan, alone, weeping at his loss and above I could hear the loudest roar from heaven as the angels cheered.

Also, I’m inspired by Laurel’s tagline… 13 kids? I suppose our little family w/ 4 kids could also do anything if you guys can do it with 7 and they can do it w/ 13!

Lord may these challenges and this encouragement not serve to satisfy my soul with just the short term thrill of a “good story” but instead leave a longing that can only be met through answering this call over and over and over again however you present it each day. Please let me be pliable enough to fit into your plan. Amen!
